Széchenyi Chain Bridge

The oldest bridge in Budapest.
The first bridge of Budapest, listed as a historical monument, boasts an absolutely breathtaking view with Buda castle as a backdrop. Count István Széchenyi commissioned the bridge and it was built from 1839–1849 from the plans of the engineer William Tierney Clark and the builder Adam Clark.
Unfortunately both world wars did not spare this Danube bridge, which was rebuilt in 1949 to mark its 100th anniversary. It's possible to climb the hill that rises above the tunnel on the Buda bank on foot, where stunning views of the Danube and the bridges await you.
